Nice Shiny Blog For A New Diet

8 01 2008

Well, I’m up and running. After years of over-eating an over drinking I’ve finally come to the conclusion that it’s time to cut down. It’s not that I weigh 50 stone or anything like that, but there is a time when you look at the scales and think….you fat bastard!! lol
Well that time came just after christmas. I dusted off the weighing scales and prepared myself for the shock.
I breathed in and stepped on…….YOU FAT BASTARD!!!
Devastated!
20stone!
Shit!
The plus point being I didn’t break the scales…..
The bad point being that I’m nearly 39 and weigh more than I’ve ever done.
My partner Caroline, and I decided it was time to put and end to the over indulgence, eating crap easy convenience food that is full of rubbish (but highly tasty) ingredients. Time to put an end to the wine drinking too. This will be the hardest thing I think. It got to the point where we were drinking every night. We were connoisseurs in wine tasting though. We know that we don’t like a wine with vanilla in it. (I don’t think we ever threw a wine away because it didn’t taste right. Every one got drank! haha

Well, gone are those days now. We had our last bottle of wine on sunday night and had a lovely pie and chips tea. But to be honest…by the morning I was ready to start a new regime. I felt like I did when I stopped smoking 3 years ago. It was time.

With help from Caroline(she understands the diet better than I do) I’ll be using the Slimming World diet. We sort of tried it last year and lost a stone in 2 months, but lost interest quickly due to the lady who ran the club not being very good at helping with the support side of things. Being told “that’s how things are” when you haven’t lost, or gained a pound gets a bit tedious. We basically paid £5 a week each just to be weighed on some industrial scales!

So this time its personal support. We’ll help each other. We know what we need to do this time.

We went and bought some fancy posh scales. Those that work out your body fat percentage and your BMI. So even if we don’t lose we should still see a difference in the body fat percentage. Hopefully!

Anyway….Enough of the rambling. Time for the first weigh in.

WEIGHT 19st 13lb
BODY FAT 8st / 40.1%
BODY WATER 43.7%
BMI 39.1

I’ll be back next week with an update and more ramblings.
I’ll start measuring my body too so that I can actually see the differences.

See Ya
